About the event
Painting Our Stories is a community-based youth workshop for ages 15–17 designed to support creativity, confidence, and positive life skills in a safe and supportive environment. Participants will receive a pair of Nike Air Force 1s to customize and paint as a way to express their identity and personal stories through art.
Throughout the workshop, youth will engage with community mentors and learn practical coping strategies, emotional regulation skills, and the importance of education and positive decision-making. Speakers will also share insights on topics such as gang prevention and building strong pathways for the future.
The program will include Indigenous cultural teachings and practices, such as opening prayer, smudging, and traditional teachings, helping create a space grounded in culture, reflection, and community connection. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, and youth will also have the opportunity, if they choose, to receive a free haircut from a professional barber during the event.
